                                                       Why Should People Understand Pets?

Nowadays, many people have pets. Some keep them because they are lonely, while others have pets just for fun. But have you ever thought of the sentence “love pets just like you love yourself”? Do you really understand your pets and care for them? Owners would probably answer “No, why should I? Pets are supposed to make us happy, not the other way around!”

But, in fact, this would possibly make your pet unhappy, they even wouldn’t trust you anymore. Even so, there are many examples of people doing this. A long time ago, trainers found out that dogs could be trained to help them. The news spread as fast as the smell of roasted duck. And soon enough, every dog-owning family was training the dogs hard and beat their dogs to help them, even if they were disabled. This caused the dogs’ average life span to drop sharply. Like other animals, dogs also need freedom and caring. So why weren’t the selfish dog-trainers even care about whether they are happy or not? Another example is cats. They are predators, but why are they sticking so close with people? In 1968, some cat scientists found out that cats like human beings more than other cats, because their main supply of food, love and care come from us. This is the similarity between all of our pets. We must understand them to meet their needs.

How about you? Do you think that we should understand our pets?
