The reading response of The Wolves in The Walls

Lucy is a little girl, living with her pig puppet and her family. One day, she heard noises inside the walls but no one except her puppet believed her. They all said if the wolves come out of the walls, then it is all over.

The wolves did come out of the walls. Everyone was running down the stairs. They all thought it was all over, but it was not. After Lucy found her pig puppet, they slowly crept into THE WALLS. That night, all of the family held a broken-leg chair, and they CAME OUT OF THE WALLS. All of the wolves ran down the stairs, and never came back again.

After that, the family spent several days cleaning up the mess that the wolves had made. Until...THE ELEPHANTS CAME OUT OF THE WALLS.

This book is a little picture book which shows you a child’s inner world. In the book, Lucy thinks there are wolves in the walls, just because the children always ‘feel’ the world and ‘imagine’ what will happen next. But, why don’t the adults believe her? Because the adults have already used the ‘rules’ to see the world, and they don’t believe her just because the rules don’t allow the wolves to appear in the walls.

This is an awesome story. It tells parents not to use only ‘rules’ to watch through the world, but to ‘feel’ the world with the child. Then, the family relationship would be better and better!
